GEELONG'S Tim Bentley was the winner of the third race meeting held by the Western Suburbs Triathlon Club this summer on Australia Day.
At Altona beach, the club held four races - a short race and an enduro event for both men and women.
In the enduro race, each competitor completed the course twice, while the short race covered one lap.
The main event of the day, the men's enduro, developed into a fierce tussle with local swim coach Mat Tippett in the lead after the first swim.
With Tippett falling back into the pack, it was left to local club member Chris Munro to try and match Bentley.
In the end Bentley's running strength proved too much and he was able to record an easy win from Munro and
the fast-finishing Daniel Standen.
In the women's enduro, Renee McCance led from start to finish, followed by Annie Martin and Heidi Littleford.
In the shorter events, the men's winner was Chris Little and the women's winner was Nolene Byrne.
