VU Western Lightning sits among the top four on the ladder after four rounds for the Holden Cruze championship cup after defeating the Southern Sharks 44-32.
In an impressive performance, the Lightning was able to dominate all over the court.
"It was one of those nights when everything went right," coach Joy Grubb said.
"Everyone played well and it was a pleasing result."
Although Lightning was led by its shooters, who missed only three attempts, it was the defenders who took 'best on-court' honours.
The return of Melbourne Vixens defender Brooke Thompson over the past two weeks has helped strengthen the side.
"With having a young side, that experience helps the other defenders, who seem to take that extra step when she is on the court."
The Lightning faces the second-placed Monash University Central at the State Netball and Hockey Centre tonight.
"It is going to be a hard match as we don't know who is going to play for them or how they will go," Grubb said.
"Their goalshooter shot 32 goals in only a half of a netball [match] last week so we will need to stop her. We managed to defeat them last year, so hopefully we can do it again this year."
