ALTONA Magic captain Pece Siveski said his side was "not entirely pleased" with its 0-0 draw with Sunshine Georgies in round two of the Victorian Premier League.
Siveski said Magic had the better chances in the swimming pool-like' conditions on Sunday.
Magic started the game strongly and created at least five solid goal-scoring opportunities in the first half only to be denied due to a combination of good goal keeping and poor finishing.
Tony Saric had the best opportunity to score for Magic when he was put through one-on-one with Georgies' keeper Martin John, but the hard-working striker could only fire wide, much to the disappointment of the travelling Magic supporters.
Despite not gaining maximum points from its first two matches, Siveski said his side was "heading in the right direction" and showing signs it would be a tough side to beat.
"We should have more points than we do but we are going in the right direction and we dominated against the Georgies and should have won the match.
"We defended really well again and our back four should be credited for a great performance and it was positive to see us create so many good chances in the match.
"I thought our striker Tony Saric had his best game since his been at the club as he always wanted the ball and shielded it well when he got it and he was unfortunate not to score on the day."
Magic midfielder Jose Vasquez sustained a hamstring injury during the match and Siveski said he was unsure how long the player would spend time on the sidelines.
"Jose was having a really good match for us before he came off with what looked like a hamstring injury and we'll definitely miss him if he can't make the squad next week," Siveski said.
"But luckily we should have Kole Delev back in the next few weeks and his experience will help us get across the line in close matches like the one at the weekend."
Magic will return to action this Friday evening when they face recently promoted Bentleigh Greens at the Kingston Heath Soccer Complex.
