WRFL: Friday night lights

11 Jan, 2012 12:00 AM
ST ALBANS will reignite Friday night football in the Western Region Football League.

The Saints will raise the curtain this season with a blockbuster against newly promoted local rivals Deer Park under lights at Kings Park Reserve on April 13.

Saints coach Ian Denny is excited by the prospect of showing the facilities at the Gillespie Road venue and the talent in the first division ranks.

"We're predicting a huge crowd," he said. "Other clubs will come down to watch and we'll also get a lot of people from other leagues. We've got the facilities to cope with a big crowd."

The Saints are no strangers to night football, successfully hosting games under lights at the venue in the past decade.

The full WRFL draw can be found here.
