THE Western Bulldogs have got the strong-marking forward they've been desperately crying out for as they take aim at winning the AFL premiership in 2010.
Sydney's 2005 premiership captain and powerhouse forward Barry Hall is headed to the Whitten Oval.
The Bulldogs are thrilled to have reached an agreement with the Swans yesterday morning.
They will part with their third round pick (No. 47) in the AFL national draft.
The Bulldogs and the Swans will also swap later picks with the details to be confirmed by the end of trade week.
Coach Rodney Eade is excited about snaring Hall, who has signed a two-year deal.
"With his experience and obviously the way he plays, he is such a team-orientated person. He can mentor our young forwards, so I think there is a dual role there for him," Eade said. Hall, who quit the AFL in disgrace after several nasty onfield incidents, admitted there had been some tense times over the past couple of days, but he is simply looking forward to pulling on the boots for the club he barracked for as a child.
"The uncertainty is out of the way now which is great," he said.
"It's a relief, we can look forward to getting set up down here and getting into training. The hard work begins now, I am really excited, I think it's a good fit for both parties and I can't wait to get into it."
Hall's high profile, longtime teammates at Sydney Adam Goodes and Michael O'Loughlin are confident Hall will prove a success in front of the big sticks with the Bulldogs.
Hall kicked six goals in a brilliant solo display as the Swans were swept aside by the Bulldogs at Manuka Oval in their only meeting in 2009.
