THE Bulldogs are almost certain to draft strong-marking forward Barry Hall, whose stunning career with Sydney ended in disgrace before the finish of the season over several on-field incidents.
The Swans' 2005 premiership captain has received good wishes from long-time, high-profile teammates Adam Goodes and Michael O'Loughlin as he attempts to revive his spluttering career with the Bulldogs, the club he supported as a child.
Speaking exclusively to the Mail/Advertiser after the live taping of popular Marngrook Footy Show (which airs on Foxtel's NITV channel as well as Channel 31 in Melbourne) at Federation Square on Thursday night, superstars Goodes and O'Loughlin insisted Hall could keep the scoreboard ticking over for the Bulldogs. "He'll be great for the Doggies," two-time Brownlow Medal winner Goodes said.
"He'll straighten them up, for sure.
"They've been crying out for a tall forward who can take a big grab [in front of the big sticks] just like 'Hally' because they've got such a dynamic midfield with Cooney, Griffen, Boyd and Cross."
South Melbourne/Sydney 300-gamer and games record holder O'Loughlin is confident Hall "will have an immediate impact" at the Whitten Oval.
"He's a class player. He's got all the tools," he said.
He added that Hall's previous relationship with senior coach Rodney Eade (ex-Sydney coach) and assistant coach Paul Williams (ex-Sydney teammate) would be extremely beneficial.
"He's one of my really good mates," he said.
"He's got a lot of pride.
"No doubt he'd want to come back and prove a few people wrong."
