WEST Newport moved into home semi-final territory with an outright 10-wicket win over Gellibrand in the Williamstown and District Cricket Association A1 turf at Digman Reserve on Saturday.
It was Wests' second outright victory of the season and yielded a maximum 10 points to leave them trailing ladder-leader Williamstown Imperials by just one point heading into the penultimate round of the season.
Gellibrand was restricted to 132 on the opening day after a seven-wicket haul to Corey Irving, a score that was never going to be enough against the Wests' talented batting line-up. Wests were brutal in their response, powering to 5-193 off 57 overs on the back of 58 not out by Peter Hick before the declaration came in pursuit of an outright win.
Gellibrand offered no resistance in the second innings, bowled out for an embarrassing 62 in 30 overs as Corey Irving (4-32), Chris Irving (3-11) and Nathan Jones (2-11) made the ball 'talk' yet again. Wests needed just one ball - four byes - in their second dig to seal the outright result.
