Turf luck for round 1

30 Sep, 2009 10:02 AM
THE Williamstown and District Cricket Association has been forced to cancel the first round of its turf competition for the 2009-10 season.

Hobsons Bay Council notified the WDCA of its inability to have turf wickets ready for this Saturday's scheduled start.

Wyndham Council followed suit, declaring the pitches at Old Westbourne and Glen Orden unfit for competition.

The A-turf, B-turf and C-compositive divisions will all be deemed washed out.

All matting grades will start as scheduled, unless Melbourne's unpredictable weather intervenes.
