FOOTSCRAY Edgewater wicketkeeper-batsman Dylan Kight has been rewarded for his breakout summer in Premier Cricket with selection for Victoria's second XI.
The young Melton product will join the likes of Australian under-19 captain Michael Hill and Big Bash participants Daniel Salpietro and Meyrick Buchanan in a tour match against international side Sri Lanka at the Junction Oval in St Kilda tomorrow.
Kight has been outstanding with the bat for the Bulldogs in the district ranks this summer with 453 runs at 50.33, including two centuries and two half-centuries.
His glove work since taking over the wicketkeeping duties from Dean Russ has been exemplarary with 16 catches, five run out and four stumpings to his name in 12 matches this season.
Victorian Bushrangers coach Greg Shipperd says the one-day outing will provide a glimpse into the future of cricket in this state.
''It should give us a good indication of what depth we have,'' he said.
''There are a lot of players who have performed well in Premier Cricket and this is another good opportunity for them to show what they can do.''
