ALTONA Gators have reached the Victorian Basketball Association Big V women's division 3 finals for the first time.
In the semi-final, the third-ranked Gators are on a collision course with second-placed Camberwell - the team that beat them in the last round of the home-and-away season at the Altona Sports Centre on Saturday night.
Gators secretary Marie Costello is confident her team can reverse the result of Saturday night's game when the two sides square off in a best-of-three series starting this weekend.
"We got beaten, but I think we'll play better this time," she said.
The Gators will be relying on stars such as forward Jayne-Maree Sant, creative guard Jade Stoneman and imposing centre Sarah McKay.
Sant is the No.1 scoring outlet for the Gators, averaging 13.1 points, while McKay is powerful in the key, reeling in nine rebounds per game.
Game one will be played at the Atona Sports Centre from 3pm on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Altona Gators have missed out on the Big V men's division 1 finals. The Carey Paps-coached outfit lost their last five games on the trot to finish in ninth place with a 6-16 win-loss record.
