NICOLA Hancock was the star performer as Williamstown Little Athletics Club took home eight medals at the state track and field championships on March 20-21.
Hancock, competing in the under-14 age group, won gold medals in javelin, discus and shotput.
"We were thinking she could win two medals going into the event," club president Craig Hardeman said.
Hancock's best event was the shotput, where she won by over a metre.
While she was the star for Williamstown, others also worked hard.
"We weren't expecting to win eight medals; we were just seeing how we went," Hardeman said. "We ended up with a further 15 finalists and quite a few personal bests."
The other medal winners were Angus Wood (gold and silver) Danielle Macaulay (bronze) and Patrick Lenagh (two bronze).
