DOZENS have marched in memory of fallen comrades during a service in Yarraville to commemorate Anzac Day.

As ex-service men and women walked with partners, children and grandchildren in services across the state, Yarraville locals came out in force to march along Birmingham Street in a moving tribute to those who never made it home.

Yarraville RSL secretary Glenn Hollibone said about 95 people turned out on Saturday to march.

"It went very well," he said.

"We had a lot of the Scouts out there [and] seeing the kids is great."

Mr Hollibone said the 30 former service men and women who fought in battles including World War II, Vietnam and Korea were excited to see a new generation march in memory.

"There's that joy, I think, that there is this new generation coming along to carry the torch so to speak.

"It's great."
