West pitches in for reconciliation

27 May, 2009 11:16 AM
ELDERS of the Wurundjeri tribe went walkabout in a community garden in Seddon last Thursday to promote Reconciliation Week, which runs until Wednesday.

Wilma Xiberras, pictured with Victoria University student Mua-bu Tung-sa-bawi, was among those to investigate the possibility of planting a bush tucker section in the Albert Street garden, which is owned by VU.

A series of free activities to celebrate the week will be held across the City of Maribyrnong.

You can decorate a "hand for reconciliation" at Braybrook, Maribyrnong and Maidstone community centres, and Highpoint Library. Or take your children on a journey through the Dreamtime with Taunwurrung elder and indigenous story-teller Uncle Larry Walsh at the Footscray and West Footscray libraries.
