Two in hospital after Laverton North crash

30 Jul, 2009 05:03 PM
TWO men have been taken to The Alfred hospital following a car crash in Laverton North this afternoon.

A 67-year-old man suffered a deep cut across his nose. Because of a pre-existing asthma condition, he had difficulty breathing.

Another man in his 30s suffered minor injuries.

Advanced life support paramedics from Footscray, intensive care paramedics from Laverton North and a paramedic team manager were called to the corner of Cyanamid Street and Dohertys Road at noon.

Intensive care paramedic John Taplin said it appeared one car had collided with the back of another, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

''We used pads and bandages to cover the wound on the 67-year-old's nose and gave him pain relief and fluids through a drip.

''He is in hospital in a serious condition, and the man in his 30s is in a stable condition.''

* More to come.
