Synthetic green a real improvement

26 Aug, 2009 09:24 AM
A NEW synthetic green will provide Laverton Bowling Club members with an immaculate surface and an edge over their rivals.

Hobsons Bay City Council, in partnership with the club and Sport and Recreation Victoria, replaced the green at a cost of $139,000 in a move to generate more revenue and improve the bowling for members and guests.

Altona Meadows Ward councillor Luba Grigorovitch said the synthetic turf would allow members to practise year-round.

"The club can now also consider allowing schoolchildren and the public to participate in bowling as synthetic surfaces are harder to damage."

The green's design also allows easy access for people in a wheelchair.
