Something soulful at Yarraville Festival

LOOK OUT FOR OUR PICTURE GALLERY ON MONDAY.

AN ex-football club media manager, two prolific writers and a musician will entertain an intimate audience as part of the Yarraville Festival on Saturday.

Organiser Bruno Lettieri, of Victoria University, says Unlocking the Vault will be a low-key interactive event.

“It’s a chance for people to come in, get some respite from the frenzy of the festival and get something a bit more soulful, a bit more reflective.”

The session will include writer Jillian Pattinson, whose work has been published in the Australian Book Review and Quadrant; Lucia Nardo, who won the Ada Cambridge short-story prize at last year’s Williamstown Literary Festival; and ex-Western Bulldogs media manager John Weldon, who is working on a faux-biography of a fictional football legend.

There will also be music with Caleb Garfinkel performing original tunes and poetic covers between the readings.

Unlocking the Vault is at The Bank Restaurant, Ballarat Street, Yarraville, on Saturday from 3-4.30pm.
