AN independent analysis of whether the Seddon, Kingsville, Yarraville (SKY) area needs a high school is expected to be delivered to the State Government within weeks.

On Thursday, SKY High Working Group's Janine Lloyd advised the group's members that she had met consultants Spatial Vision to discuss the confidential report findings two days earlier.

She said she felt positive that the report would warrant further investigation into creating a

secondary education option in the area.

"While we can't pre-empt what the [education] minister [Bronwyn Pike]'s announcement will be, the data supports the process moving forward ... we feel very strongly that this is a positive step that recognises a strong need in our community and will be the springboard for finding a solution that will be good for us and our neighbouring education providers."

It is understood that Spatial Vision will include more detail on its methodology, further

analysis of potential student numbers and some word changes before forwarding a final draft to SKY High to sign off on.

The consultants will then forward the report with a recommendation to Ms Pike.

An earlier departmental report stated potential student numbers would not support a high

school.

SKY High, which already has 800 members, plans to letterbox residents in Spotswood and Newport about its campaign for a high school in the area.
