SINGLE parents and their children are being invited to a family fun day at Newport Lakes next month.
Single Parents Active Kids founder Moush Mohtadi said the not-for-profit social networking group had gathered more than 350 financial members since forming 10 months ago.
"Our aim is to get together as often as possible because the biggest thing with single parents is the isolation," Mr Mohtadi said.
"What we keep hearing from parents is, 'Where has this been? This is exactly what I need to get out of these four walls.'
"We've got all sorts, lawyers, architects, stay-at-home mums. We've all got that one main thread: we're all single parents."
Mr Mohtadi said about 80per cent of events were aimed at children while the rest were parent-oriented.
"We run on average three activities every week and about six camps per year all over Melbourne.
"We have grown in 10 months from about 20 members at the start of the financial year to now having a staggering 365 financial members and still growing very quickly."
The Newport Lakes event, from 11am on June 14, will include a sausage sizzle, children's entertainment, face painting, ball games and raffles.
Parents who sign up for a six- or 12-month membership within a fortnight of the day will receive two months' free membership.
