TWO men have been quizzed by police over the shooting of Mohammed Haddara, who was gunned down in Altona North on Saturday night.
The killing of the 27-year-old Hoppers Crossing father of two occurred just days after gangland identity Desmond 'Tuppence' Moran was shot dead in a cafe in Ascot Vale.
The drive-by shooting of Mr Haddara has shocked the Altona North community, with a number of residents unwilling to comment publicly when this reporter visited the area because of fears over their safety.
About 8pm on Saturday, Mr Haddara's body was found slumped in the driveway of his parents' home in Fifth Avenue, where, police say, he had been shot up to five times.
Homicide detectives interviewed a man on Sunday evening, but he was released pending further inquiries.
On Monday afternoon, a 29-year-old Brooklyn man attended the St Kilda Road police complex. He, too, has been released pending further inquiries.
One Altona North resident, who did not want to be named. said: "It's very scary.
"There are families with young children around here and it was lucky this [the shooting] happened on a Saturday night and not during the day."
St Leo the Great Primary School principal Basil Ryan said he was one of many saddened to hear of the deadly incident.
"It is a terrible shock to the community, but luckily for us, we are a fair distance from where it happened. We have had no reports of any trauma suffered by any of our pupils, but it's a very sad thing to have happened and I feel sorry for the young man's family."
Mr Haddara was known to police, who say they are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry.
They are still looking for a gold or champagne-coloured 2005 Holden Commodore SS sedan that was seen in the area shortly before the shooting.
