Planting event to take root

28 Jul, 2010 01:00 AM
FRIENDS of Lower Kororoit Creek are expecting a big turn-out for National Tree Day in Altona North this Sunday.

The group is hoping to plant more than 1500 trees and shrubs around Kororoit Creek. President Geoff Mitchelmore, pictured, expects about 150 people at the annual event.

"Our location has been picked to be one of the main ones by Planet Ark, so hopefully it will attract

a few more people."

Other attractions on the day include Edvardo the clown with lollies and chocolates for children, free tea and coffee and a free barbecue.

National Tree Day will start at the bottom of Dohertys Road, Altona North, at 10am.
