Luba Grigorovitch championing her gender

14 Jul, 2010 12:00 AM
ALTONA Meadows ward councillor Luba Grigorovitch (pictured) has been named Hobsons Bay Council's 'women's charter champion'.

The charter has three key principles: gender equity, diversity and active citizenship.

"Being the charter champion makes me more determined to continue to encourage women to be more involved, and to advocate on behalf of women so they have even more opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the community," Cr Grigorovitch said.

"[The year] 2010 is the Year of Women in Local Government, and gender equity issues along with opportunities to get women more involved is high on my list of priorities.

"I see this position allowing me to greater spread the word and encourage women's participation in Hobsons Bay."
