MARIBYRNONG Mayor Michael Clarke will wear the Footscray mayoral chains as part of the suburb's 150th anniversary celebrations.
Councillors unanimously voted last week to reinstate the chains in recognition of Footscray's heritage.
The mayor will wear them at council meetings and other official duties.
The council is also inviting community groups to design and sew panels on to the mayoral robe.
This artwork will then be put on display.
