WHAT DO YOU THINK? POST A COMMENT HERETWO Laverton women have slammed the Department of Transport over what they describe as unacceptable delays and problems at Laverton railway station.
Trudy Golding is furious about the delay in the repair of lifts, a concern echoed by Charlene Woodall, who raised the issue last November.
"The first time it happened on March 10, I was stuck on one side of Laverton station late at night for three hours waiting for the lift to be repaired. In the past month the lifts have broken down several times. I am unable to use stairs and it's just not good enough," she said.
Ms Woodall had raised similar concerns in an email to the Transport Department.
As reported in the Mail on December 2, pictured left, correspondence to Ms Woodall from the department stated: "The
lifts will be maintained by the rail operator who will have service level agreements in place with the external lift maintenance company. This will ensure maintenance requirements are attended to in a timely manner." Ms Woodall said last week she was not surprised other residents had complained. Transport department spokeswoman Galang Trieu said the station footbridge, which opened in February, provided stair and lift access.
"Where possible, maintenance is scheduled during off-peak hours to minimise disruption to commuters."
