Help sought on robbery

28 May, 2010 05:35 PM
FOOTSCRAY police are calling for witnesses to a robbery at a Highpoint shopping centre carpark in the early hours of Friday, May 14.

A 65-year-old Vietnamese woman had gone to Highpoint to play the pokies at about 4.30am. The pokies venue was closed and she was returning to her car, parked in the Warrs Road carpark, when a man approached her and said the pokies venue was open and there was a rear entrance. As she turned to go back he assaulted her from behind and wrestled her handbag from her. She was carrying $7000 in cash.

The attacker is described as male, caucasian, about 185 centimetres and wearing a hooded jumper.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or Detective Senior Constable Mick Drew of Footscray Embona on 83989878.
