CHLOE El Hawli, who last year won a $720 Western Chances scholarship to cover her singing lesson fees, is among a group set to receive further assistance.
Twelve-year-old Chloe will join other promising young performers from the western suburbs in Western Chances performance and audition skills workshops to be held later this year.
Backed by a $3200 grant from the State Trustees Australian Foundation, the workshops are designed to further hone the skills of 25 Western Chances scholarship recipients, who include singers, actors, musicians and dancers.
State Trustees managing director Tony Fitzgerald said the annual grants were perfectly timed to make the new year a little brighter for organisations like Western Chances. "We are thrilled to be able to make these much-needed funds available to such a worthy organisation at this time of year."
Western Chances was established in 2003 by Terry Bracks to help talented and self-motivated young people in the western suburbs realise their potential through scholarships and similar programs.
