COMMUTERS are being asked to rate their local railway station and suggest improvements via their mobile phones.

The pt4me2 Better Stations survey is being run by the Metropolitan Transport Forum, which is a local government organisation with members from metropolitan Melbourne, including Maribyrnong Council.

The survey closes this month and the results will be used in a bid to persuade the state government to improve railway stations.

Interim survey results show commuters are unhappy with the Footscray station footbridge.

Maribyrnong Council's forum representative, Cr Martin Zakharov, said the top five areas for improvement were shelter, toilets, car parking, cleaning and staff.

The survey had been customised for use on mobile phones.

I read a related article and I am pretty sure that it was a former resident who complained. It sounded as if they haven't been back to Footscray since for a few years. Seasons come to pass...
