A FISHY concept dreamed up by Altona North students has won Victoria University's annual 'I Plan a Business' contest.

Emmanuel College students Einar Dela Cruz, Simon Naval and Lorenzo Alforque won the 'best business plan' award in the year10 group category for a do-it-yourself sushi bar called 'Your Sushi'. Customers would roll up their own sushi bar and make their own sushi box.

Judging panel chairman John Breen, of VU's business and law faculty, noted the students' hands-on approach.

"The do-it-yourself aspect of the sushi bar was a unique concept that offered this potential business a unique selling point."

Emmanuel College year10 student John Dawson won the 'best business plan' award in the individual category for his Hide-n-Dry product - a multipurpose towel with a hidden waterproof pocket. The contest was developed by VU's business and law faculty as an incentive for secondary students in Melbourne's west to demonstrate an entrepreneurial flair.
