Cooking for a cure

THE Altona Lions Club market this Sunday will offer something different for visitors as members don aprons for a barbecue with a cause.

The event has been organised to support the annual Australian Lions 'Biggest BBQ' to raise funds for the

Children's Cancer Institute of Australia.

Altona Lions Club president George Calleja said money raised would go towards research into the prevention, early detection and cure of childhood cancer.

Mr Calleja said club members hoped the community would support them by contributing to the event and help make a difference.

To date, Lions Australia has raised more than $4million for the institute.

The barbecue is from 9am, Sunday, at Cherry Lake Reserve, Millers Road, Altona.
