Evelyn de Bonnaire has seen the face of Maribyrnong change after living in the area more than 50 years.
The 96-year-old welcomed one of the municipality's newest residents, two-year-old Kanakvi Kawar, at a citizenship ceremony last Thursday evening. Kanakvi's mother, Irina, said she was glad to be raising her daughter in Maribyrnong after arriving from India last year. "It is so close to the city but is a real community. We just love the Maribyrnong River."
It is exactly this, a celebration of the suburb's past and future, that Footscray 150 is all about.
