STORYTELLERS, writers and musicians are providing something for children at The Substation Artists' Market in Newport on the first Saturday of each month.
Jackie Kerin, Claire Saxby, Dharma Picking and Dagmara Gieysztor have combined their energy and talents to create a 'story space' for children and adults alike.
Kerin, award-winning author of Phar Lap the Wonder Horse, said the space was for children to listen to stories and meet authors and puppet makers.
"We also enjoy talking to adults and children who are keen to learn more about publishing and writing," she said.
A member of the Storytelling Guild of Australia, Kerin said she was passionate about keeping spoken story traditions alive.
"Hobsons Bay is fortunate to have authors like Claire, Dharma and Dagmara enriching the community with their beautiful books, puppets and performances."
Saxby's latest book, There was an Old Sailor, has been launched to rave reviews and is off to the Bologna Children's Book Fair.
Gieysztor specialises in limited-edition handmade books.
Her first book, Tree, has earned her a place at the Williamstown Literary Festival where she will be running workshops.
Picking, who has been described as having "the voice of an angel", is well known for her storytime every Thursday at her bookstore, Everlasting Books.
The Artists' Market celebrates its first anniversary from 10am-4pm on April 3, at 1 Market Street, Newport.
There will also be entertainment, food, drink, and art exhibitions, demonstrations and discussions.
