Appeal in Footscray to raise funds, hope

31 Mar, 2010 11:42 AM
THE Good Friday Appeal is coming to Footscray tonight with a street party to raise money for the Royal Children's Hospital.

The Victoria Police showband and other entertainers will get the party going in Nicholson Street Mall between 11am and 1pm. There will be a sausage sizzle for a gold coin donation

Leading Senior Constable Craig Spicer, Footscray police's community liaison officer, encouraged the community to have some fun for a good cause.

"This event has helped raise more than $10,000 over the past five years," he said.

Footscray police, Yarraville Rotary Club, Melbourne Fire Brigade, City West Water, Western Bulldogs and Maribyrnong Council have organised the event.
