A World Cup winning feeling

30 Jun, 2010 12:00 AM
WORLD Cup fever gripped the western suburbs last week as Footscray Primary School pupils donned international colours for their own cup tournament.

Pictured are Japan supporters Truman (front), Sheng Lin, Elija and Claudia making their feelings known.

The mini-'World Cup' also marked the end of term for pupils from prep to grade6 who took to the ground

to play and barrack for their favourite world soccer teams.

Pupils were assigned international teams to play for and support, and they made colourful flags to get into the spirit of the games.

Footscray also had an 'England' team, though its namesake had bowed out of the Cup after a miserable 4-1 loss to Germany.

This year, Footscray Primary will mark another milestone when it celebrates its 150th birthday in August.
