Description:
If you are a parent who wants to learn how to help a teenager who may be developing a physical or mental health problem, FREE training is available as part of a research study being run by The University of Melbourne. One parent and one teenager per family can take part by registering on www.tpot.net.au. Parents will receive free training in either a 14 hour Youth Mental Health First Aid course or a 15 hour Red Cross Apply First Aid course. During the registration process, parents will need to select two course dates and they will be randomly placed into one of these by computer. Before parents can attend their training course, both the parent and teenager will need to complete a brief telephone survey separately. At the end of the survey, parents will be advised as to which training course they have been randomly allocated. This will be confirmed via email. The project has received ethics approval (ID: 1135679) and is funded by a National Health and Medical Research Council Australia Fellowship.
